First up: Classic mode. Why is it called Classic mode? Well frankly, classic was the first incarnation of String Theory: a Word Game. Classic boils down the game to its core and focuses the game play elements. This mode trains the basics of the Deck, the String, Specials, and trains the basic game mechanics of how to spell words to get scored to increase in levels.
In this mode, you’ll find that you like to primarily spell words left to right, or top to bottom, or even diagonal. I find myself spelling words left to right mostly until the board starts to fill up, where I hope against hope than an E will magically appear in the deck so that I can complete that one word.
These concepts are then built on in the other game modes: Timed, Stacked, and Clear the Board.
Hint: Play Classic mode 10 times to unlock Stacked mode.
